Completed: July 2017 (err...Friday morning of Comic-con...)
Materials: hand-dyed Antron fleece, polyfoam, wool felt, faux suede, knit, dupioni silk, twill, satin, wire, butchered umbrella hat, Apoxie Sculpt
Notes: Couldn't wait to get some better photos to put Taako up, so these are cell phone shots from SDCC. Special thanks to Nell Bailey, who was my puppet wrangler, design consultant, and made Taako's Fantasy Comic-con badge (using supplies from Ralph's) and "Sizzle it up" apron. Taako had a fabulous time at SDCC and at the live The Adventure Zone show (which he watched from my lap, because there was nowhere else to put him), and had a slightly harrowing escapade on the show floor. I was extremely surprised and humbled by the amazing reception he got from the TAZ community, and can't wait until Mangus and Merle are finished (and I find some more hands).
Taako has a fully redesigned head, body, and hand pattern created specifically for him, as well as a custom mouthplate using a new construction technique. I did have to finish the majority of the work while prepping for a work convention, and AT a work convention, so I do still have tweaks to make. The Umbra staff is heavier than expected and he will need custom arm rods or a remake to wield it! During the con he wore it across his back. But it does open. His clothes are heavily modified childrens' patterns, representing my first from-scratch puppet costume. The robe is lined.
